Grounds/Garden
Notes The white rose bushes at the entrance as well as the butterfly
bush by the patio are in bloom. A hummingbird feeder has been placed by the butterfly
bush; this should draw hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden. Be sure to
set outside and enjoy the birds and our beautiful garden during the summer months. Bob

OUT???? Most doctors agree that Tai Chi and Chi Kung help alleviate
stress and aid in regaining your sense of balance. Qi or Chi is the unseen "life
energy" or vital force" flowing within each human being and regulates
our mind and body. Chi Kung is the work or practice of our energy as Tai Chi is
played as an exercise to cultivate physical harmony to control and lower blood
pressure, improve stamina and even keep students youthful. It's a wonderful self-healing
technique and it's fun. Please join our class on Monday mornings at 10:00am. Thanks,
Mike Showstack | LUNCH

Audubon's John Galuzzo Presents: The Ospreys of the South Shore July 27th,
@ 1:00 PM There
was a time, not too long ago, when one could almost speak of the osprey in the
past tense in Massachusetts. The same chemicals that were killing off the American
bald eagle were striking at the heart of the osprey population. But heroic efforts
by volunteers on the South Coast and South Shore enabled the ospreys to make a
dramatic recovery to prominence in the state, bringing it back from the edge of
extirpation and extinction. Join John Galluzzo, adult program coordinator and
citizen science coordinator for Mass Audubon's South Shore Sanctuaries for a journey
though the life of this special South Shore iconic bird. |

Mission Statement The Marshfield Council of Aging is a
human service agency whose mission is:
*
to provide and coordinate services to the senior community of Marshfield *
assist seniors to live within the community with dignity * to enhance
their quality of life. To accomplish this, the Council on Aging provides: *
Information about community resources that can offer assistance for caregivers *Personal
Assistance identifying the caregiver needs, options and referrals to services
and programs *Links
to training and support services As
advocates, we believe that our community can postively affect the quality of life
for older adults and their caregivers and encourage development of needed services
that complete the continuum of care. Most
caregivers are unpaid, and care for a dependent adult 7 days a week. The Marshfield
COA operates with a nine member Board of professionals from the public and private
sector that meet on a monthly basis to plan activities and community events. In
addition to our services Board members, staff and community volunteers make available
a series of educational programs throughout the year. These programs include:
* Ongoing conferences for caregivers and professionals covering in-depth
topics on caregiving, health and aging. * A support group (link
to support group) * Educational forums for professionals and community
members presented to update on current research, trends and new information on
caregiving, health and aging. The
Marshfield Council on Aging planned and developed this website as an information
resource for family caregivers and professionals in Massachusetts. Funding
for the development of this website has been generously provided by the Old Colony
Planning Council. We would also like to thank our regional partners and collaborators
that help make these services possible.
